A Good Night's Work

What the Spring and Smorty have noticed about a good installer.

Listen to this story

Read aloud by Smorty.

People ask the Spring what it is like to hold a door up all day. "Heavy," she says. "But it's the best job there is. Every time someone comes home, I get to help the door open. Boing!"

Here is what I think a good installer does, because I have watched them. They show up on time. They put down a mat so they do not track dirt in. They test the door, up and down, three times, then watch it a fourth. They do not leave until the family has seen it work, and they leave the garage cleaner than they found it.

The Moral

The family might forget the tech's name, but they remember the door that opened every day and never made a fuss.
